ACSA Region 2

ACSA Annual Award Program

State, Region and Charter ACSA members may be nominated to be honored for outstanding performance and achievement as Administrators of the Year in various job-alike categories. Awards recognize outstanding performance and achievement by individual administrators, classified managers or confidential employees. Charters begin the process by nominating and recognizing individuals at the charter level. Awardees selected at the Charter level may be forwarded for regional recognition. Region nominees and award winners are recognized at the Annual Region 2 Gala. Selected regional awardees may be forwarded to state ACSA for state recognition.

Region 2 also has its own “Region 2 Sam LaCara Administrator of the Year” award winner which is separate from ACSA. This can be any administrator at any level.

Below are 3 forms to assist you in completing this year’s Administrator of the Year Awards. Each charter should be developing a process to select its recipients in each of the 19 categories, plus a student for the Every Student Succeeds program. NOTE:  Forms may be completed online if you have Adobe Reader 8.0 or newer.

The first form is an overview of ACSA’s state awards program. The second link is the actual form that your charter needs to complete for each of its recipients to forward on to the Region. The Region will select one candidate from all the nominees in each category; plus one student. Additionally, if your charter also nominates an “Administrator of the Year for Region 2” the Region will select one nominee as well.

There are several other state ACSA awards that you can nominate someone for. They have to be approved by the Region, however. They include the Ferd J. Kiesel, Robert E. Kelly, Valuing Diversity, Partners in Educational Excellence, and Outstanding Media Coverage of Public Education. See ACSA’s web site (link below) for the forms if you are interested in nominating someone from your Charter.

Charter presidents and the Region Past President will meet on January 6 at the Rocklin Unified Board Room in Rocklin to select the Region winners and those that we will move forward to the state. Please ensure that your applications are typed and follow the correct instructions regarding limits on the number of pages, etc. These applications must be submitted to Darrien Johnson prior to the January meeting or brought to the meeting by the charter president. It is expected that applications will be high quality, fully completed applications. Region 2 deadline is December 31, 2011.

Do not put off this important recognition opportunity for our colleagues.
