RE: 2008-09 Response to
Intervention Workshops
The ACSA-CASP RtI Project is offering another round of RtI
workshops around the state. The next workshop is November
5th. Room is still available for late registrations. The
following is information regarding this workshop series:
Building Capacity for Response to Intervention (RtI):
Developing practical strategies for sustained outcomes
Presenters and facilitators:
-
Carin
Contreras - former principal and Director of
Instructional Services, Roseville City SD
-
Deeds Gill -
RtI Coordinator, Fresno USD
-
Jennifer
Gaviola - former secondary literacy coach and Director
of Special Services Madera USD
-
Dr. Cathie
Christo - Professor of Psychology, Sac St. University
How do we
build capacity for RtI? What steps and strategies should we
take at our school sites to sustain outcomes? How should
RtI work and fit with NCLB, standards-based instruction,
developing professional learning communities, and everything
else we're doing? These are common questions among
districts and school sites that have recently begun their
RtI journeys. Unfortunately, there have not always been a
lot of answers or practical advice to these key questions.
These one-day workshops will focus on answering those
questions and providing educators practical recommendations
to develop successful programs. It is designed for
educators and their teams that are in the first phases (1 -
3 years) of RtI implementation. The workshops will
highlight successful strategies for building program
capacity and sustainability within the context of an RtI
philosophy.
