Offering Physical Fitness Test Training
The California
Department of Education (CDE) is offering a series of trainings which are
designed to provide an overview of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and to train
new and experienced district PFT coordinators and other district leads in the
proper administration of the FITNESSGRAM® test protocols, the correct data
collection and reporting procedures, and the appropriate use of results. This
free training is being offered for the first time and is designed to be similar
to the pre-test workshops offered for other statewide testing programs. Seven
trainings are being held statewide in October and November in Sacramento,
Redding, Van Nuys, Santa Clara, Visalia, Riverside and Long Beach.
The PFT Trainings are designed for school district teams comprised of the
district PFT coordinator and a lead physical education teacher who would be
responsible for sharing the information with other physical education teachers
in their district. District participation is limited to two attendees due to
space limitations.
Information about the trainings has been emailed to all PFT coordinators listed
with Educational Data Systems, the state test contractor. If the district PFT
coordinator on record with EDS has changed from last year, we ask that you
forward this message to the correct person in your district. Please coordinate
the attendees from your district with your district PFT coordinator.
If you are unable to attend one of these trainings, materials and video from the
training will be available on the Internet in early November at
www.pft-info.org.
